Wared Logistics Commences Operations

Warehousing and Distribution Holding Company (Wared), that provides importation, transportation, distribution services for the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region, has announced the formal launch of its comprehensive service offerings - reported AMEinfo.com.
The company has been formed through a merger of Zahid Holding Group’s Zahid Heanor and Construction Products Holding Company’s (CPC’s) United Transport Company (UTC). Zahid Holding and CPC will each hold 50% of the new company, reported Arabian Supply Chain.com.
Marwan Faysal Alfadl, director, business division, Zahid Group Holding, said: “The partners, through their separate subsidiaries Zahid Heanor and UTC, are already reputed for meticulous and customised transportation and logistics services. With 30 years’ experience in this field, we have a broad knowledge of the market requirements as well as the high capacity to meet these needs in the best ways.”
Wared operates distribution centres in 12 cities in Saudi Arabia and is about to finalize the design of two new warehouses in Jeddah and Riyadh, each of approximately 40,000 square metres. The company has an SR300m investment plan, in addition to its capital expenditure for expansion in 2010. The company also has a branch office with warehouses and trucks in the industrial zone in Damascus and a distribution branch in Jebel Ali in Dubai. The company plans to open a center in Egypt and presences will be established in Abu Dhabi, Lebanon, Jordan and Algeria.
The company has formed four operating companies, each providing logistics services, which includes Wared Transport provides container drayage, full truckload, and specialized heavy-lift transport; Wared Express provides Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Shuttle/Express transport services, including local pick-up and delivery; Wared Distribution provides contract warehousing and inventory management services for general commodities and refrigerated products; and Wared International provides Global Trade Management services - forwarding and customs brokerage/clearance, reported AMEinfo.com.
