Selected Rolls-Royce to supply Turkish Flag carrier's powerplants for five additional aircraft, including two freighters

Turkish Airlines, as part of its recent top-up order for A330 passenger aircraft, is going to buy two Airbus A330-200 Freighters, reported Flightglobal.com.

Rolls-Royce has revealed the planned freighter deal, which says in a statement that it has been awarded a $350m order for Trent engines to power five Airbus A330 aircraft, including two freighters, for Turkish Airlines. The contract includes long-term TotalCare service support. Aircraft deliveries will start in 2010.

Airbus confirms that Turkish Airlines has increased its order for passenger aircraft from 7 to 10 units as part of a deal announced during the Paris air show in June 2009. It adds that the airline has a memorandum of understanding for two A330-200Fs, which when confirmed would make it the 10th customer for the new 64t payload all-cargo freighter, reported the source.
