RMI Signs New Five-Year Agreement With CN

LBR Staff Writer Published 14 June 2010

RMI, a provider of rail information services to transportation industry, has signed a new five-year agreement with CN for the continued use of its Oasis software for the operational control of CN’s intermodal terminals.

CN, a railway intermodal carrier in Canada, has been using OASIS at its intermodal terminals since 1996.

According to RMI, Oasis is a decision support system that provides automation of intermodal terminal operations using algorithms for solving logistical problems that arise in intermodal rail yards.

In addition to the Oasis Terminal Operating System, CN also uses RMI’s Oasis Vantage Business Intelligence interface for real-time visibility of intermodal operations.

Pierre Arsenault, general manager systems of operations intermodal at CN, said: “The integration of the latest version of Oasis Vantage for our new gate operations process has gone extremely well and clearly demonstrates for us that Oasis is the most innovative software for intermodal terminal management.”

Scott Holland, vice president of intermodal at RMI, said: “Integration with evolving automation technology and the addition of sophisticated optimization logic are integral Oasis roadmap components. In order to achieve the optimum level of efficiency, it’s critical to utilize the right software to take full advantage of the capabilities of new technology.”
