Norfolk Southern Names New Vice President

Norfolk Southern has appointed Thomas Hurlbut as vice president of audit and compliance for the company, effective from February 1, 2010. He will report to the CEO, Wick Moorman.

Accoring to Norfolk, Thomas Hurlbut succeeds Joseph Dimino, who will be retiring on January 31, 2010, after a 33-year career in the law and executive divisions at Norfolk Southern.

Thomas Hurlbut joined Norfolk Southern in 1992 as senior accountant and served as manager of financial reporting, director of corporate accounting, director of accounting research and analysis and assistant vice president of corporate accounting, before being named assistant vice president of internal audit in 2008.

Joseph Dimino joined Norfolk Southern in 1976. He served as general solicitor, general counsel, senior general counsel, vice president and corporate counsel, and vice president of compliance, before being named vice president of audit and compliance in 2008.

Headquartered in Norfolk, Norfolk Southern is a transportation company. Its Norfolk Southern Railway subsidiary operates approximately 21,000 route miles in 22 states and the District of Columbia, serves major container port in eastern US and provides connections to other rail carriers. Norfolk Southern operates an intermodal network in the East and is a major transporter of coal and industrial products.
