Kuehne + Nagel Establishes New Offices In Northwest, Far East Russia

LBR Staff Writer Published 26 April 2010

Logistics provider Kuehne + Nagel has established two new offices in Northwest and Far East Russia, to further strengthen its activities in the region as well as to participate in important development projects of the oil and gas industry.

The company said that the new office in Murmansk, at the Kola Gulf of the Barents Sea, will be important for the coming launch of the Shtokman gas condensate field exploration project as well as serve the oil and gas-related industries in general.

The location is well connected to all Russian regions and to Norway and Finland via St. Petersburg and Moscow. During the Shtokman project, international and Russian contractors will base their seismic surveys, drilling operations, oilfield support, engineering and construction there, the company said.

The new representation in Nogliki is located on the Sakhalin island, where Kuehne + Nagel already has an operating office. The company started its activities on Sakhalin early in 2002 with the opening of the oil and gas exploration set-up there and the award of the Sakhalin 2 (SEIC) contract, which is still running.

Perry Neumann, managing director of Kuehne + Nagel Russia, said: The Shtokman project will help to develop the Murmansk region, with its ice-free port, into one of the leading Russian ports and a key location for major local and international suppliers of goods and services.

“Nogliki, too, is a crucial hub in the transport network for the oil and gas industry. Our new representation is a significant expansion of our presence on Sakhalin and will enable Kuehne + Nagel to further develop the range of products that we offer to our clients. With these two representations we are strengthening our position in the important oil and gas sector. Being present on the local market at the proper time will enable Kuehne + Nagel's global oil and gas organisation to successfully participate in these important development projects.
