Geopost would hold 60% in the joint venture, while Continental Air to hold the rest

Geopost, the express parcel arm of French postal services firm La Poste, has entered into a new joint venture with India's Continental Air Express to offer express parcel services in India.

GeoPost would hold 60% in the joint venture through its arm GeoPost Intercontinental, and the Continental Carriers Group would hold the rest.

The Indian government has already approved an application of GeoPost and Continental Air Express to establish the joint venture. The joint venture, DPD Continental, would offer services in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. The company also seeks to extend its services to other parts of the country.

Gautam Nath, CEO, DPD Continental, said: We will begin by offering international parcel service and look at domestic service by the middle of next year.
