Mr. Schardt will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction as well as the company’s global operations and product portfolio.

FedEx Trade Networks, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation and an international ocean and air freight forwarder, has appointed Fred Schardt as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of FedEx Trade Networks. The company's previous president and chief executive officer, Ed Clark, retired on September 30, 2009.

In his new position, Mr. Schardt is responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of FedEx Trade Networks, as well as the company’s global operations and product portfolio. He has around 35 years of experience in the international freight forwarding, transportation and logistics industries.

Mr. Schardt joined FedEx Trade Networks in 2008 as executive vice president and chief operating officer. During his time with the company, he realigned operations and standardized service offerings to optimize the FedEx Trade Networks international freight-forwarding portfolio. He is also leading an aggressive global expansion plan, which includes an increased freight-forwarding presence and office openings in Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Fred Schardt, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Trade Networks, said: “I look forward to continuing our progress in expanding the FedEx Trade Networks global footprint and enhancing our services to provide customers with unmatched end-to-end international freight forwarding solutions.”

FedEx provides a broad portfolio of transportation, e-commerce and business services. FedEx Trade Networks's network of worldwide locations and alliances enables it to provide customs brokerage, ocean and air international freight forwarding, global order logistics, distribution and surface transportation, trade advisory services, and advanced e-commerce and trade facilitation solutions.
