DryShips Acquires Two Panamax Vessels

A 76,635 dwt Panamax built in 2007 and a 76,635 dwt Panamax built in 2006

DryShips, a provider of marine transportation services for drybulk cargoes and off-shore contract drilling oil services, has entered into an agreement to acquire two Panamax vessels for an aggregate price of $75.76m.

The vessels, a 76,635 dwt Panamax built in 2007, and a 76,635 dwt Panamax built in 2006, are expected to be delivered charter-free within the first quarter of 2010. This transaction is subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of DryShips.

Greece-based DryShips owns and operates drybulk carriers and offshore oil deep water drilling that operate worldwide. Reportedly, DryShips owns a fleet of 39 drybulk carriers comprising 7 Capesize, 30 Panamax and 2 Supramax, with a combined deadweight tonnage of over 3.4 million tons, 2 ultra deep water semisubmersible drilling rigs and 4 ultra deep water newbuilding drillships.
