DB Schenker Starts Operations At Logistics Terminal In Sofia
DB Schenker has started operations at its logistics terminal near the Bulgarian capital of Sofia. The logistics center interconnects rail and road traffic, with two private sidings.
The EUR10m terminal is situated in Bozhuriste, close to the international road link between Sofia and Belgrade, 20 minutes from the center of the capital. It has 3,000sqmt logistics area with ten meters height, 2,000sqmt cross-docking hall, both having 30 loading bays with hydraulic ramps.
According to DB Schenker, the new terminal has two private sidings with a total length of approximately 220 meters. A ramp will enable five four-axle cars to be processed simultaneously and up to six cars can be loaded and unloaded on the other track.
Elmar Wieland, chairman of the board of management at Schenker, said: In our region, we are relying increasingly on railports - terminals where we can implement intermodal solutions that are profitable for our customers.
