Damco invests $4m for new logistics facility in Vietnam
Damco has invested around $4m in a new integrated logistics centre at Binh Duong, near Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, which is expected to start in April 2011.
Once completed, it will fully operate the 26,000sqm custom-built warehouse, built by Thai Binh Shoes Logistics (TBSL), the company said.
The new warehouse facility will offer consolidation, bonded, domestic and general warehouse services and serve both Cat Lai port and Cai Mep port and is also connected by road transport.
In addition, a plan to link the facility to barge infrastructure as an alternative to truck transport is also in place, which will allow customers to reduce overall transportation costs and carbon emissions.
Damco chief executive of Asia Pacific Tony Hotine said that Vietnam is a key market for Damco and the company will continue to invest in infrastructure, technology and people to support the increasing demands from its customers here.
“By integrating warehousing services with our extensive network and capabilities, customers are able to increase efficiency and agility in their supply chains. We are well-positioned to increase our market share in Vietnam,” Hotine said.
