Channel relationship management software vendor Click Commerce has acquired Xelus, a start-up that offers web-based software to enable efficient collaboration between companies in an extended supply chain. The deal follows Click's acquisition in February of supply chain execution company Optum, a Xelus partner.
Click said the deal brings analytical capabilities that extract value from RFID programs and will also broaden its product range with the addition of Xelus's service parts planning and reverse supply chain software.
Click CEO Michael Ferro said the next area for widespread RFID adoption is the market for high-value parts and complex finished goods. He said combining Xelus's products with Click's existing service parts management and fulfilment software will close a critical gap for companies with complex supply chains pursuing RFID initiatives.
Working with services companies such as Accenture and IBM Global Services, Xelus has a blue-chip customer base that includes companies including Cisco, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Samsung.
Click said the acquisition will be accretive to earnings almost immediately. Xelus will be merged with a specially created Click subsidiary, which will assume its liabilities. Finance will come from its cash reserves or its credit facility.
