Grupo TMM is engaged in transportation industry. It is involved in offering maritime transportation, logistics outsourcing, dedicated trucking, and port management in Mexico. The company has classified its business operations under three segments including maritime operations, logistics operations and ports and terminals operations. The maritime operations business segment provides maritime transportation and other services through offshore vessels to the Mexican offshore oil industry, tankers that transport petroleum products and liquid chemical cargos and tugboats that provide towing services. The segment has fleet of 36 vessels which include product and chemical tankers, harbor tugs and offshore supply vessels. Grupo TMM’s logistics operations segment offers trucking services to automobile plants, and retailers across Mexico. The company’s wholly owned subsidiary TMM Logistics deals with the operations of this segment. It serves in different regions of the country including Aguascalientes, Toluca, Puebla, Veracruz, Nuevo Laredo, Cuernavaca, Mexico City, Monterrey, Manzanillo, Ensenada, and Altamira. The logistics network analysis, logistics information process design, trucking and intermodal transport and warehousing/facility management are the total set of services offered under this division. It has mixing centers at Monterrey, Aguascalientes and Toluca. The ports and terminals operations segment deals with the operations of two Mexican port facilities located in Tuxpan and Acapulco. The Mexican Government controls and monitors the concessions related to these two ports. It also offers port agent services in relation with vessel owners and operators in the Mexican ports. The company has an automobile terminal and a warehouse at the port of Acapulco through which it exports Volkswagen, Chrysler and Nissan. The segment offers trucking services to producers and retailers which include Jumex, Allied-Domecq, Wal-Mart, Unilever, Waldo’s and Nissan. The company generates 59% of its revenue from maritime operations in 2007 followed by 38% from logistics operations and 3% from ports and terminals operations segment.
